Ceravision's UV420 High Energy Grow-Light 

Ceravision’s team of scientists and technicians have used their combined commercial and scientific expertise to design, develop and produce its new UV420 High Energy Photon Grow-Light.

This unique grow light delivers UV-A, UV-B and blue light that ensures stronger, faster vegetative growth and more resinous, higher yielding crops.

Ceravision's lamps and spectra provide proper UV-A, UV-B and blue light that can be adjusted through power, reflectance and glass filters to deliver the optimum amount of complementary light, tailored to be crop specific.  Crops grown under our lights will produce higher levels of terpenes, essential oils and flavonoids.

The UV420 dose consists of metal halides that are completely evaporated.  This removes any potential for degradation on the inner surfaces of the capsule during operation and allows for lamp life of up to 50,000 hours. Other Plasma technologies and metal halide lamps suffer from material stress of the capsule caused through chemical reactivity of the metal halide liquid pool which is a precursor to failure and reduced life.

UV420W's Unique Features

The quantity and wavelength of light reaching the crop can be modified according to the reflector glass used:

  1. Standard Glass: (WHITE surround) has a lot of blue light and minimum UV-A and UV-B (see black line in charts below).
  2. Enhanced UV: (RED surround) has increased UV-A and UV-B (see red line in charts below).
  3. Enhanced UV+: (BLUE surround) has maximum UV-A and UV-B (see blue line in charts below).

HPS, LEDs & Ceravision's UV420 High Energy Lamp

Studies have shown that full continuous spectrum with sunlight qualities is the best spectrum for healthy plant development.  Plants grown outdoors are subjected to varying amounts of both UV-A (315 - 400 nm) and UV-B (280 - 315 nm) depending on geographical location and time of year.  There is increasing evidence indicating that UV-A and UV-B radiation influences photomorphogenic plant responses including gene regulation, flavonoid biosynthesis, leaf and epidermal cell expansion, stomatal density, and increased photosynthetic efficiency.  Exposure to UV radiation may also induce the synthesis of specific proteins involved in resistance to microbial attack. Plants absorb light best at specific peaks in the blue and red spectrum (465nm and 665nm).  

High pressure sodium lighting (HPS) provides an efficient source of PAR, producing intense light for indoor plant growth; but HPS doesn’t produce usable UV and lacks the necessary power at the lower end of the spectrum (the high energy blue range below 560 nm).  LEDs are mono-chromatic and do not have a full spectrum similar to the sun, which can lead to inhibited plant growth and are also lacking in UV, essential for optimal plant growth and development.  Metal halide (MH), Ceramic metal halide (CMH) or Fluorescent lighting can help to increase the blue spectrum, however they offer very little UV light.

With a spectrum of 280 - 550 nm, the UV420 produces intense visible blue light, UV-A and UV-B and filters out harmful UV-C, the UV420 may be the most efficient complementary grow-light around:

  2. Protection from moulds and mildew and near elimination of pests.
  3. Easily changed reflector glasses offer blue-light and UV options to suit growth stage.
  4. Low maintenance with low running costs and fully compatible with existing contactors and timers.
  5. Complementary light used in conjunction with HPS and LED will deliver optimal plant development.
  6. Increased terpenes, essential oils and flavonoids plus abundant trichome production.
  7. Protection from moulds and mildew and near elimination of pests.
  8. Small light source size ensures compact luminaires and minimal shadowing.
  9. Uniform distribution of 2.0m2 at a hanging height of 2.0m and good penetration in hi-wire crops.
  10. Reflector glass can be easily changed to suit your requirements.
  11. Extremely low lamp degradation, 50000hr+ magnetron life and a tough, durable casing.
