Ceravision Receives award from Nesta ...

NESTA Logo - Creative Investor Awards Ceravision £150,000 for Invention and Innovation

NESTA (the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) awarded Ceravision with £150,000 to support development of the electrode-less, microwave-driven high intensity bulb (the first of its kind in the marketplace).
NESTA funding has specifically helped to refine the prototype, necessary to demonstrate the commercial and technical viability of the product.

About NESTA

NESTA was set up by Act of Parliament in 1998 to help maximise the United Kingdom's creative and innovative potential.
NESTA is funded by an endowment from the National Lottery and uses the interest to back people of exceptional talent and imagination. They do their best to offer the support needed to explore new ideas, develop new products and services, or experiment with new ways of nurturing creativity in science, technology and the arts.
NESTA does this through a range of pioneering and incredibly diverse programmes. There are awardees in every conceivable field of creative endeavour, from music to micro-biology, performance art to artificial intelligence.
There is a common thread, which runs through all NESTA's programmes and distinguishes them from any other investor: the kind of support they offer.
They invest early, and don't expect short term success; if they believe a project has the potential to enrich the nation, they're happy to take a risk on it. Sometimes, they back ideas that have exciting commercial potential and they are equally interested in their social and cultural value.

NESTA also aim to provide innovators with whatever kind of backing they need to turn their ideas into a reality. This means financial support as well as everything from mentoring to marketing expertise.
NESTA is much more than just a source of funding. Since they started, it's become increasingly clear to them that they have a wider role to play, in working to improve the climate for creativity in the United Kingdom. They are passionate advocates for the economic and cultural value of innovation, aiming to achieve changes in both attitudes and practice.
To this end, NESTA acts as a catalyst. They're committed to sharing their learning; working collaboratively with other interested parties and thinking imaginatively about how best to remove the obstacles that have prevented the United Kingdom's innovative potential from being fulfilled.
